Bethlehem Senior Projects, Inc. benefits older adults in the community by

acting as catalyst and coordinating agency to bring people, projects and resources together to reach shared goals; cooperating with the town's Senior Services Department to provide services such as transportation, nutrition programs and fuel assistance; writing grant applications designed to obtain funding for services to town residents;

sponsoring educational and wellness programs; and purchasing and supplying equipment to facilitate access to services and sites in the town.

The Garden Bounty Program enables local gardeners and farmers to donate surplus crops for distribution and share the harvest, pleasure and good nutrition of fresh produce.




Individuals and community groups donate canned goods and non-perishable items for distribution at the Bethlehem Food Pantry. Bethlehem Senior Projects coordinates these items, and donated funds and distributes gift certificates for food and other necessary items to food pantry recipients. The pantry is kept stocked and staffed by Bethlehem Senior Volunteers; volunteers also prepare and deliver more than 100 food and/or gift baskets each year at holiday time.




Volunteer drivers provide regularly scheduled and affordable transportation to activities, shopping and professional appointments for residents over the age of 60.
Three of four vans are handicapped accessible with wheelchair lifts; one-on-one transportation from home to healthcare for very frail individuals is provided in passenger cars. The vans serve more than 75 people a day; weekends and evenings, vans are used for pre-planned Bethlehem Senior Services outings.





Regularly scheduled Health Fairs, Wellness series of classes, panel discussions and programs of special interest keep the community informed about issues and health education. Partnering with the Bethlehem Public Library, programs of interest to older adults are presented regularly throughout the year.
